This 16 x 20 canvas takes about two hours to complete and comes with a template, so you won’t scream. It is a play on the 1893 classic The Scream by Edvard Munch. It has been suggested the inspiration for The Scream came when the artist was on a walk along a road overlooking the city of Oslo, apparently upon Munch’s arrival at, or departure from, a mental hospital where his sister, Laura Catherine, had been interned. It is unknown whether the artist observed an actual person in anguish, but this seems unlikely; as Munch later recalled, “I was walking down the road with two friends when the sun set; suddenly, the sky turned as red as blood. I stopped and leaned against the fence … shivering with fear. Then I heard the enormous, infinite scream of nature.” – Excerpt from The Art Story.

According to Biography.com, in May 2012, Munch’s The Scream sold for more than $119 million, a record-breaking price, sealing its reputation as one of the most famous and important works of art ever produced.
